Challenge
As a marketing team, we were looking for creative ways to get new social content and reach local audiences that we weren’t reaching in our current social media efforts.
We wanted to advertise and push ticket sales to shows that needed an extra boost but hadn’t been as successful in our previous marketing attempts.
Process
We came up with what we called, “The Influencer Program.” We began creating lists of 30 or more local Instagram influencers for each club that we could reach out to and offer free tickets for selected shows.
Our goal was to offer VIP treatment (gift cards, free food, etc.) to influencers who accepted the offer in hopes of them capturing, posting, and tagging us in content from the shows to their thousands of followers.
Solution
The response from the local influencers was more than we had initially expected. For each club that we offered free tickets to, we received at least three influencers who took us up on the offer to attend the show that weekend. Many asked us if we wanted them to capture content and on what platforms.
One of our best weekends was for the Omaha Funny Bone when a local influencer with more than 130K followers posted a series of Instagram stories highlighting each comedian and promoting the weekend shows.
